11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City In Kolton's most recent Baseball Factory event the two way player showed improvements in a few aspects of his game. On the mound, he threw three pitches, adding a change-up to his arsenal since his first outing. His fastball touched 76 MPH, up from 72 MPH, and his 11/5 curve-ball showed greater depth and was consistently in the zone. He gets good extension, hides the ball well, displays good control, stays down in the zone, and was not afraid to throw the ball in. Implementing some front-side action, staying in-line, and getting more strength from his lower-half with a greater stride will help his velocity and his command. He controls the game on the mound and knows how to mix his pitches to be effective. Defensively behind the dish, he has a strong arm, but could utilize his lower half for added carry. His pre-pitch movement/setup is decent, but his glove gets too deep, at times. He works hard behind the plate, communicates with the pitcher, and keeps the ball in front while blocking. Overall, Kolton projects best as a pitcher with some savvy and knowledge of keeping hitters off-balance.
