01/22/2023 - National Showcase - Dallas, TX Kortes is a 3B who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build, with high waist, and strength present. At 3B, starts with a prep step, with active/efficient footwork, and has good body control at the baseball. Works from right to left, with ability to pick out hops, and fields from an athletic fielding position with soft hands out front. Has a short arm stroke with ability to throw from multiple arm slots with an arm velocity up to 84mph. A switch-hitter, from the right side he hits from an athletic and even stance. Does a good job of keeping his hands inside the baseball and hits ball where pitched. A short barrel path enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph. From the left side, he hits from an athletic and closed stance. Has a good hip turn to contact point and keeps his weight between his knees. A direct barrel path as hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 78mph. With another season of development, we foresee Kortes having a bright future on the baseball field.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Kortes is a talented 3B/SS in the 2023 class. In the field, he has solid pre-steps and his feet are fluid. Shows agile movements and squares his body to the baseball. His hands are soft and uses a loose high release at 83 velo. Feeds are accurate across the diamond. At the plate, he begins in a squared stance and uses a short stride. He has a level path and gets his back side through. Hands are quick at 84 exit velo and shows line drove production to the pull side. Overall, Kortes is a next level player and can help a college program next fall.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
