Official Scouting Report

  • C/RHPPosition Projection

06/09/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (MS) Kota is a 2027 C/RHP prospect who recently showed his skills at the All-State Tournament in Mississippi. Behind the dish, he gives his pitchers a big target. He works hard to stay on time when receiving and present his hands low. He did a good job of blocking balls in the dirt, keeping his chest over his knees and glove down. His arm impresses, as he improved on his previous raw velo by recording 76 MPH on the gun. At the plate, he starts in a squared, athletic stance with loose hands and he gets an activated load with a short, squared stride to the pitcher. His rhythm is fluid and he lower half works through the baseball. He shows his strength and he gets great extension on his swing, rotating his core to finish. He shows off a good eye at the plate and found the barrel consistently. He recorded a max exit velo of 76 MPH which is an improvement from his previous mark. In game action, he reached base 5 out of 7 times with 2 singles, 2 walks, and a hit by pitch. On the mound, he throws from a 3/4 arm slot and starts in a confident set-up. His starter step is simple and he gets on-time separation when driving to the plate. His arm action is clean and he keeps his eyes on his target. His FB shows some arm side run and he ran it up to 70 MPH. He fired two innings of game action, striking out 3 and allowing only one hit. Overall, Kota is an exciting prospect that we are looking forward to seeing develop more as he enters high school next fall!

05/29/2023 - National Showcase - Redmond, WA Kota continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times have improved as threw his lowest time to date at 2.50 with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Kota is a 2027 C/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. Behind the plate, he has an easy sit and presents a good target. His throws were on the bag, with good life, and an arm velocity up to 68mph and best pop time of 2.76 seconds. Does a good job of tucking his chin on his blocks. At the plate, he sets up in an upright and open stance with high hands. Has a square/soft glide step and keeps his weight between his knees. He hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 66mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on-time. He showed good poise and was coachable. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 66-68mph with tailing action, and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball. Overall, Kota is a good player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
