01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 Kyle continues to show steady improvement in his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved the most as indicated by his lower pop times. He will control the running game with his feet and arm. Pop times have been lowered to 1.95. He continues to show leadership abilities with a solid knowledge of the game. Clifton will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches and have the makings to be a solid catcher at the next level.

10/15/2008 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2008 Clifton showed a very strong arm behind the plate, along with excellent receiving skills and solid blocking ability. He was also aggressive and showed leadership skills, making him a very well rounded defensive player. Can work to improve his footwork and exchange to throw, has some excess length in his release that hinders his release times. At the plate, he showed tremendous raw power. His hands were quick and he hit with an aggressive approach. Can work to track the ball better, and to improve his bat path through the hitting zone. Overall, certainly has the physical tools to catch and hit at the next level - just needs some fine tuning.

09/21/2008 - College PREP - Overland Park, KS Kyle is a two way player behind the plate and at 3B with a thick, strong looking body that is suited for both positions. He does project well at both positions where he has well above to above average ability. Arm strength is well above average displaying life, carry, and accuracy on his throws through a quick release. He will control the running game at the next level as indicated by his low pop time of 2.02. Receiving and blocking skills are above average showing a quiet, solid stance. In the infield, feet are active and aggressive in coming to get and playing through ground balls with his feet and hands. Glove action is soft, sure, and solid in making all the plays. He has an idea with his defensive abilities at both positions. At the plate, Clifton has above average ability and power. He has strength in his body and his swing creating a power type swing. He shows a solid feel for the barrel especially to the pull side. Kyle will get a lot of attention from the college coaches and some pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
