02/14/2016 - College PREP - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Godfrey has worked hard and molded himself into a very solid all-around player. Behind the dish, footwork is quick as he gets in front of pitches in the dirt, centering the ball off of his chest. Transfer/exchange is quick & smooth - with pop times now as low as 2.0. With the bat, this righty stands in well and waits for his pitch. Stroke is short/quick to and through the zone as he squares the ball up consistently. Kyle will make things happen in this his junior season.

12/06/2015 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Kyle is a 2017 grad who shows some athleticism at the catching position. He is flexible and quick twitched behind the plate, leading to throws to 2B as low as 2.13 with excellent accuracy. He sits well and receives with sure hands in addition to being solid on balls in the dirt. At the plate, Kyle generates good bat speed and has some barrel whip through the zone. He accelerates well through the ball and should have some future power. Overall, this a complete catching prospect with a bright future.

11/07/2015 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Kyle sets up with a slightly open stance and works through a soft, square stride and loads the hands into a strong, balanced launch position. Kyle's swing path is short and compact; keeping his hands inside the baseball and delivering the barrel at contact well. The gap to gap approach that Kyle uses at the plate allows him to hit the ball where it is pitched and will give him the opportunity to drive more balls for power as he adds additional bat speed and explosiveness through contact. Kyle showed a great deal of consistency at the plate throughout the weekend and has sound fundamentals as a hitter that will benefit him heading into the next season.

07/07/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Kyle showed good arm strength and consistency while at the Cape Cod event. Behind the plate he is sure handed and improved greatly blocking the ball. Working on lateral quickness and continuing to polish skills will help him in the future. Offensively Kyle showed good potential and improved a lot at the Cape. More specifically he has an aggressive approach, stays inside the ball and has a short/direct swing path. If Kyle can smooth his approach, stay centered, and extend through the ball more the power and overall hitting ability will continue to improve. Kyle is a great kid who works hard, listens well, and improved every day.

12/27/2012 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Vero Beach Kyle continues to show consistency in his overall ability. Behind the plate, he deadens the ball and gains when blocking, his throws are accurate, and shows an athletic/low fielding position. He can continue to work on sticking pitchers when receiving and getting to his knees quicker when blocking. Offensively, Kyle shows a middle approach, squaring the ball up with good barrel delivery. His lower half works through and shows a short swing path. Kyle will improve hitting grades and power as he learns to develop a bigger load with his hands. This will help him drive through the ball with more strength. Overall, Kyle shows good game instincts and has the ability to swing the bat.

08/24/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Poughkeepsie, NY Kyle is a young, average sized, 2-way player who catches and plays SS. Behind the plate, Kyle has firm hands, okay footwork, and a wide base. He catches in a square position, he has a short arm action, and he throws with some carry to his target. At SS, Kyle has sure hands, he makes plays, and he works the double play well. He has a clean exchange and throws with accuracy from multiple arm angles to his target. Offensively, Kyle has a square set-up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He makes hard contact and gets his lower 1/2 through. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following. Catching 1. Lower target 2. Blocking 3. Long toss Defense 1. Field out in front 2. Lighten feet Offense 1. Loosen grip 2. Rhythm / timing 3. Spray to all fields

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
