06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Lane continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way and covers a lot of ground with his foot quickness (7.07 60 time). Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (85 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (81 mph exit velocity) as he stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break.

01/18/2021 - All-In Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Lane is a RHP/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Lane gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Lane shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph with late movement. Slider sits from 70-71mph. Curveball sits from 61-62mph. Changeup sits from 68-70mph with late arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Lane shows active footwork and covers ground well. He fields with a firm glove and has a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a closed stance with center balance. He is fluid to load and hits against a strong front side. He stays direct through the ball and produces consistent contact to all fields. Overall, Lane is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Lane continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays on plane and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth/clean actions. He presents well out in front as well. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 61-64 mph with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Lane.

11/12/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Midland, TX Lane is a SS/RHP with a thin, athletic build. Defensively at SS, he moves well laterally and tries to work into a square fielding position on GB's. He gives smooth double play flips and fires his throws with loose arm action. On the hill, this righty gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch arsenal. He delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action and works in line towards home plate. With the bat, Lane shows a square/balanced setup with a quiet approach. He keeps his hands inside and will drive the outside pitch to the opposite field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quick footwork
2. Work low
3. Develop soft hands
Pitching
1. Be a strike thrower
2. Lower 1/2 drive off rubber
3. Better command with FB
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Improve bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
