08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Lane worked hard, was very coachable and had a positive attitude while at the Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown. At 2B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable. Fastball shows a range of 58-60 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Lane with continued hard work and effort.

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Katy (Houston), TX Lane is a 2B/RHP graduating in 2020. In the field, Lane covers ground to make plays and gets into a square fielding position while presenting soft hands out front. Lane throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and could see more accuracy and velocity from a long toss program. At the plate, Lane gets into a tall, square setup and shows a direct swing path to the ball. By implementing more rhythm and utilizing more of his lower half, Lane could hit the ball harder and more consistently. On the mound, Lane throws a FB from a 3/4 arm slot. He shows good balance gathering over the rubber with an on-time separation. Lane controls his landing with a proper stride length and rotates to his target at his finish. Lane shows room for improvement by implementing a secondary pitch to his arsenal and fine tuning his mechanics on the mound. With added strength from natural growth and development, Lane could play at the next level.

06/15/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Tomball (Houston), TX Lane is a young (2020 grad) 2-way player as a RHP/2B. On the bump, this righty has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point and maintains level shoulders, working in-line toward the plate. FB ranges from 50-52 mph while curveball has gradual action. Defensively at 2B, he shows active footwork as he hustles around the GB. He has good range to his glove side, makes the plays and gathers well. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with a solid base. He hits the ball where it's pitched and has the ability to go the other way. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Separation
Defense
1. Footwork / agility
2. Glove presentation
3. Play through ball
Offense
1. Swing path
2. Load
3. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
