12/19/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Lane is an athletic OF that will graduate in 2014. He did a nice job in Pirate City, showing as an above average player, similar to his first workout with us a few months ago. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 6.90 60 time. Feet are quick / athletic as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through well with momentum to his target through an aggressive approach. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He improved his footwork on his throws during his time at the event. At the plate, Lane shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with ball jumping off his bat when centered. He takes a hack at the plate and does not get cheated. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with a 2B and 4 BB as he displays a solid eye. Once on base, he utilizes his foot speed well in taking extra bases, showing outstanding instincts. Lane has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities. He is a player to watch over his last couple of years of high school baseball.
