11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Leekendrick is a lean, athletic two-way player with lots of raw skills and potential on the field. He continues to improve his skills, notably at the plate where his approach has become solid to put together good at bats. He is square at the plate with an on time stride to launch through the zone. He takes the barrel to the ball and is able to go the other way to cover the whole strike zone. In the outfield, he shows good closing speed to gain ground on fly balls and cover plenty of ground. He goes back on the ball well and catches it over his right shoulder to transfer and throw. On the mound, he shows a solid balance point and keeps his body in sync, working in line to the plate. He features a fastball at 60mph with run and complements it with a 10-4 curveball. Staying low and driving through his lower half will add velocity moving forward. Leekendrick is an intriguing prospect we look forward to watching further.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
