With 2 more years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

Pop times showed in the 2.30 range with accuracy / carry (83 mph exit velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, hitting abilities are now well above average with solid power potential through a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage with gap to gap pop.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament When we think of what skills we want catchers to display, Lincoln Cardwell, 2024, Kokomo, IN (Northwestern) checks all the boxes. Receives and blocks at an advanced level, has great anticipation to keep the ball in front of him at all times. Glove works under and through the ball and minimizes any body movement to showcase the ball and earn strikes for his pitchers. Softens the ball when blocking, controls rebounds and has excellent footwork to throw and a nice release (2.2 POP). At the plate, he keeps it simple, minimizes excess movement, loads and send his hands to the ball with a good connected swing path. Flashes some power to the gaps as well but his offensive consistency makes him a desirable catching prospect.

03/01/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Lincoln continues to shine on the diamond. This young, 2-way player can make things happen in a variety of ways. Behind the dish, he sits in athletically and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He moves quickly right and left to center pitches in the dirt off of his chest. Throws down to 2B are on the bag with pop times now at 2.30. In the OF, he has quick footwork, is aggressive and takes good angles to his right and left. He secures the ball with 2-hands, has a quick transfer and makes accurate throws with zip into his target. With the bat, this righty has a balanced approach and is looking to take a hack. Swing is level as he connects and hits hard line-drives. Only a 2024 grad - the future is very bright for this 2-way prospect.

Behind the dish, Lincoln starts in a balanced primary and has a staggered secondary stance. He works under the ball and sees the ball into his glove when receiving. He needs to continue to present a low target and minimize his post pitch manipulation. He needs to continue to lead with his glove and get his lower half into a strong position to control balls with his chest when blocking. Exchanging the ball in front of his body and creating momentum with his lower half when throwing will quicken up his release. At the plate, Lincoln starts in a closed stance, keeps a quiet head, and has a simple approach. He has quick hands and creates backside rotation with his lower half. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
