07/23/2018 - College PREP - Florence (Cincinnati), KY Loel is an athletic OF/C prospect who continues to show improvements on the field. In the OF, Loel shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Loel can improve as an OF by long tossing to build up his arm strength. Behind the plate, Loel shows efficient footwork and gains ground when blocking balls in the dirt. He presents a good target to the pitcher and makes a clean exchange to throw, keeping his throws consistently on-line to 2B. Loel can improve as a C by setting up square to the pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He shows a smooth rhythm and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact and line drives. Loel can improve as a hitter by getting into his load more. Overall, Loel is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

10/15/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Georgetown, KY Loel is a lean, athletic 2019 catching prospect with intriguing raw ability. He has good feel for the barrel at the plate, making lots of contact with a knack for hitting the ball hard. He is square and athletic in his setup with fluid actions and good balance in his swing. He uses a strong lower half to generate bat speed and work on a level path to the ball to make consistent contact. Behind the plate, he centers the ball to block, gets down quickly and is fast to recover. He presents a solid target and works to get around the ball to receive pitches in the zone. Implementing a long toss program will improve arm strength and cut down on pop times moving forward. Loel is an interesting prospect we look forward to keeping an eye on as he develops further.

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Loel is a lean OF who will graduate in 2019. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.19. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. In the OF, he utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 2 years to further develop, Loel has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
