12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Louie continues to impress with his baseball abilities at the Academic All American showcase. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth actions. He shows active footwork as he attacks ball, working to square ball up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/27/2023 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Louie is a stocky left-handed hitting 2B/RHP in the 2024 class. Defensively, he plays on the balls of his feet and takes great attack angles to the ball. Moves with agility and gains a low and athletic fielding stance. Fields out in front and displays pocket awareness. Exchanges are quick and clean and shows positive arm strength at 83 velo. Feeds have carry and accuracy. On the mound, he is a strike thrower and misses are small. His FB sinks at 73-7 and stays at the bottom if the zone. His CB has great potential at 11-5 shape and medium break. At the plate, he has great hands and barrel skills. His swing is on-plane and juice at 82 exit velo. Stays inside the baseball for a middle of the field approach. Overall solid two-way player.

05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Louie is a 2B/RHP in the 2024 class. On the dirt, he shows quick feet and agile movements. Works under the baseball and the ball sticks to his glove. Takes great angles in his pursuit and cuts down the distance to create his own hop. His exchanges are quick and gains a short arm slot. Arm plays at 82 and is accurate to his targets. On the mound, he shows great balance and stays over the rubber. His FB touched 74 and has movement. His SL was in the zone with 9-3 shape at 57-60. His CH had deception at 65. Working to stay relaxed and trust his pitchability will allow more frequency in the zone. In the batter box, he begins with an open stance and looks athletic in his set-up. Keeps his head quiet and his timing is smooth. Stays in his back leg well and show production to the pull side. Working to hit the inside portion of the baseball will allow him to use the whole field more. Overall, Louie is a fine two-way player and with more reps and time in the weight room he can become a fine prospect.

03/19/2023 - National Showcase - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Louie is a talented left handed hitting two way player (2B/RHP) in the 2024 class. In the field, he shows active feet and agile movements. He gains an athletic fielding position with soft gloves presentation. He can redirect the baseball with clean actions and uses a loose low ¾ slot on his release. Arm plays at 81 and is accurate to his targets. On the mound, he operates with a 3pitch mix from a high ¾ slot and can pound the zone. His FB touched 76 and showed late run in and out of the zone. His CB sat 65-7 with 12-6 spin. His CH ranged 64-7 with sink and deception. At the plate, he can generate loud contact. He shows the ability to square up the baseball with a direct path for line-drive production. Likes the pull-side and with working to hit the inner portion of the baseball he will increase his ability to use the whole field. Overall, Louie is a solid two-way prospect.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
