Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

03/22/2015 - National Tryout - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Louis continues to work hard and has developed over the years. On the bump, Louis paints the zone with multiple pitches including a swing and miss splitter. He continues to bring his gamer mentality to the mound and threw 11-18 pitches for strikes. Defensively, he moves well with efficient feet and solid glove work on the backhand and glove-side plays. Following his throws and using multiple arm angles will improve his game. At the plate, he hit from a square stance with repeatable actions. He did a great job of delivering his swing on a direct path to the contact and staying inside to create some pop. Overall - Louis will see a bright future with continued work on his game.

05/18/2014 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Louis continues to develop in his game. On the mound, FB now cracks the mitt at 81 mph while showing run. Slider has late break with hard bite, showing to be a solid out pitch. He competes every time he steps on the mound. At SS, Louis is aggressive in his approach moving from right to left through the ground ball. He presents his glove and fields the ball out in front. He has a clean exchange to throw and works in-line toward 1B. As a hitter, Louis shows patience as he tracks the ball into the zone and waits for his pitch. He shows plus barrel accuracy as he squares the ball up consistently. A 2016 grad - Louis has a bright future in the game.

02/16/2014 - National Tryout - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Louis showed good ability with his 5'10/170 lbs frame at his most recent Baseball Factory outing. Defensively, he worked around the ball and presented his hands in front to field with sure hands. He used his feet to throw and had a quick release. He should continue to increase his arm strength with a long toss program to allow for ease in making the play in the six hole. Offensively, he hit with a direct barrel and level plane. He displayed good barrel accuracy and was coordinated with his hips/hands. On the bump, he threw four pitches with loose arm action. He hurls from the low 3/4 arm slot, causing natural arm side movement, which can be very deceptive. In all - Louis is a 2016 with time to continue strengthening and get reps to fine-tune his game.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Louis is a sophomore SS that showed well at the dish, going 3 for 6. His balance, athleticisim and solid bat speed allowed him to hit safely and pressure the defense reaching base safely 5 of the 6 times. Defensively, he did a nice job of making plays with soft hands. Being more aggressive to the ball and fielding further in front will allow Louis to make plays with greater ease. Overall - Louis has a couple more years to hone his fundamentals and strengthen into a sound baseball player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
