02/19/2022 - Mid-Atlantic Pitching/Catching Training (HS) - Columbia, MD Lucas Camacho, LHP 2025, Christian Brothers Academy (Freehold, NJ) Pitching Notes: Very clean mechanically. Gathers over the rubber with balance, separates on time, also strides with good length and direction. Plus arm action with a clean release and arm stroke. Commands fastball well and mixes in a nice breaking ball but really keeps hitters off balance with his best offering, a bottom dropping changeup that clip the zone and tumbles out to get a lot of poor contact. Continuing to develop arm strength and loosen his grip on the ball should give some more velocity and movement on his FB and CB. Velos: FB (65-69mph) CB (52-54mph) CH (58-60mph)

12/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Manalapan, NJ Lucas is a young, left-handed pitcher who will graduate in 2025. On the mound, Lucas works in good rhythm, he keeps his eyes on target, and he competes in the zone with all of his pitches. He has a clean arm circle, lands with a controlled landing towards home, and he mixes in his off-speed pitches well. Mound effectiveness can improve with work on separation, more extension on his release release, and a better better finish. At the plate, this left-handed hitter has an athletic stance, good balance, and he loads properly. He swings on plane, makes square contact to all fields, and he hits from a firm lower half. Improved rhythm/timing, along with added bat speed, will only help office of numbers get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
