Official Scouting Report

12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory Holiday Classic at Pirate City Lucas is a versatile outfielder and right-handed pitcher from South Windsor, CT, in the 2026 graduating class, who worked hard to develop his skill set at the Baseball Factory Pirate City camp. In the outfield, he does a great job of working behind the baseball and creating good angles, making accurate throws from a three-quarter arm slot. On the mound, Lucas has a confident setup and a strong feel for pitching, working effectively to pitch to contact. In three innings of work, he struck out two batters and induced soft contact, showcasing his ability to keep hitters off balance. At the plate, Lucas is a right-handed hitter who starts in an even stance and uses a square glide step, consistently making contact and using the middle of the field. In live game action, he reached base twice with two singles. While he has solid mechanics, Lucas needs to focus on staying in his legs more during his swing. With another year of growth and development, he will continue to refine his skills and reach his full potential on both sides of the ball.

02/17/2024 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Lucas continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. In the OF, he shows good preps and plays with high energy. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles and plays through the ball well. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and loads well, working through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he rotates hips more through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-74 mph and works both sides of the plate. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin, gradual break, and shows potential as being a quality out pitch. Slider is harder with tight spin and 11/5 break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Lucas continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the Pirate City Christmas tournament. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Glove action is firm but needs to present earlier and more out front. At the plate, he shows an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work on plane to the ball. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-72 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and good depth. He is poised and battles on the bump. Lucas is very coachable and works hard on the diamond.

08/20/2023 - National Showcase - Hartford, CT Lucas is an athletic OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with his body. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Slider has tight spin and short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Lucas has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
