12/28/2023 - National Showcase - Milton, NY Lucas is a big framed 1B/OF who will graduate in 2025. At 1B he shows good footwork around the bag with ability to scoop baseballs. Has a good pre-pitch routine as he works to center the baseball. Has a good glove angle with a clean transfer and made accurate throws to all bases. In the OF he gets good reads off the bat and runs good routes to the baseball. Fields from an athletic fielding position with hands out front. Made accurate throws into infield from a 3/4 arm slot. A left-handed hitter he starts in an athletic and square stance. Uses his long levers to generate power and swings with intent. During his round of BP, he hit balls to all fields. With another year of development, we foresee Lucas having a bright future on the baseball field.

02/19/2023 - National Showcase - Bronx, NY Lucas continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. He shows some accuracy on his throws. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness.

01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Lucas Irrek is a 2025 OF/1B prospect out of Brookfield, CT. In the field he does a good job of getting himself in a ready position pre-pitch. His hands are soft and he catches the ball with 2 hands. He has a clean arm action but can get more out of his follow through. At the plate, he has a closed stance with low hands. His stride and rhythm are controlled and he does a good job of spraying the ball to the opposite field. Can be more aggressive on base paths with better reads. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Lucas as he starts up his sophomore baseball season.

12/29/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Milton, NY Lucas showed nice upgrades in his game during his last workout. He raised arm velocity to 72 MPH, exit velocity to 67 MPH, and he ran his best 60 to date at 7.5 seconds. In the OF, Lucas has efficient footwork, he tracks well, and works behind properly. He uses 2 hands to catch, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a quick arm action with accuracy to his target. At 1B, Lucas is a good sized target, he keeps the ball in front of his body, and moves around the bag. He has a quick/consistent arm when throwing to his target. Offensively, Lucas has tall/closed stance, he loads well, and stands in with solid balance. He has good bat speed, he makes solid contact, and flashes pop in his bat.

11/06/2022 - All-In Membership - Milton, NY Lucas is an OF/1B prospect who will graduate in 2025. In the OF, Lucas shows active footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Long tossing can help Lucas build up his arm strength. At 1B, Lucas shows efficient footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body. He fields in a square position and has a clean exchange, making on-line throws to his target. Lucas can field ground balls more efficiently by presenting his glove lower to the ball. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a closed stance and gets back into his load well. He works to barrel up the baseball and produces solid contact. Maintaining center balance throughout his swing can help Lucas create more consistent contact. Overall, Lucas is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
