Official Scouting Report

08/20/2023 - National Showcase - Hartford, CT Lucian continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Split finger also shows sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Lucian is a coachable 3B/RHP in the class of 2026 out of Newtown, CT. At 3B, he showed good agility with the ability to move laterally well. He fielded the ball with soft hands and made all the routine plays while making good exchanges and throwing the ball with carry to his targets. At the plate, this LHH used a square set up with good balance to keep a quiet head throughout the swing. He takes a direct swing to the ball which enables him to make consistent contact and battle with 2 strikes. On the mound, he competes and attacks the zone early. He works a 2 pitch mix of fastball (63mph) and a change up with tail that ranged from 57-58mph. With three more years to develop, Lucian has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Lucian is a class of 2026 3B/RHP prospect. Unfortunately Lucian had a tender arm and was unable to do his infield evaluation. We hope to see him at another event so we can work with him. At the plate, he hits from a tall and even stance with comfortable hands. He showed good barrel control, with a short/direct path, and rotates his core to contact point. Showed ability to spray balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 58mph during BP. Lucian needs to work on engaging his lower half to improve his swing plane. On the mound, he starts with a small rocker step and separates his hands on time. He is 2-pitch pitcher and delivered all pitches from a high 3/4 release point. He works off of a FB that he was able to command that sat 57-59mph and a developing changeup. In live game action, Lucian threw 57% of his pitches for strikes. With 5 years of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way prospect having a good high school career.

12/08/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Nyack (NYC), NY Lucian is a young, lean, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3rd base. On the mound, Lucian has good balance and solid direction toward home plate. He competes in the zone with his FB, keeps a still head on target, and he finishes in a good fielding position. At 3rd, Lucian has playable hands and feet, he makes the routine plays on balls hit his way, and he throws with direction across the diamond. At the plate, Lucian has a square stance, a short stride, and good balance. He hits line drives, stays inside the ball, and taps into some lower 1/2. Overall skills can get better with work on the following

Defense
1. Fielding position
2. Release
3. Footwork
Pitching
1. Release
2. Lengthen AA
3. Finish
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Rhythm
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
