Luey continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the All-America Pre-Season Tournament. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound.

Luey is a talented RHP/OF in the 2024 class. He recently impressed scouts with his actions as a two-way player. In the field, he moves well (7.28 60 yd) and has active feet. His presents his glove and works through the baseball well. His exchanges are clean and his throws back to the dirt are on-line and accurate. On the mound, he can release from a variety of arm angles. He can maintain the strike zone from a high ¾ slot and drop down and drag his knuckles to maintain a natural looking arm path. His FB has slight run and topped out at 73. His CB sat 61 and had 11/5 shape. His circle change sat 66-7. Working to keep his lead hip closed longer will allow him to generate more explosion and increase velo. At the plate, he has quick hands (81 exit velo) and can use the whole field. He proves to be a line drive hitter with his full extension finish. Equally important to his skill set was how scouts raved about his coachability and willingness to experiment with new techniques. Overall, Luey is a fine young man and scouts feel with continued work, he can take his game to the next level.

Luey is an athletic RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 68-72 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness (7.31 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Luey has potential with time and room to progress his game.
