12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Luis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.06 runner. In the MIF, he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy/carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 4 with a 3B.

08/30/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Wilmington, DE Luis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.26 runner. At the plate, power potential is now solid through an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

03/10/2019 - National Tryout - Manalapan, NJ Luis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he has improved his hitting/power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and he presents well out front. Throws are accurate but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series Luis is an athletic MIF who continues to progress. In the MIF, he has active/efficient footwork and moves smoothly from right to left around the GB. He gathers well, has a clean exchange and works in-line toward his target. As a hitter - Luis has a balanced setup with fluid rhythm to load. He takes a hack at pitches he likes, swings on a level path and barrels the ball up. Creating more extension through contact will help to increase power. Luis is a young athlete who has skills with still a ton of time to physically mature (get stronger).

01/30/2016 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Luis showed a hard-working approach at the Hitting ATW to go along with having a nice idea at the plate. Working from a square, athletic stance, Luis utilizes a soft and square stride while activating the hands properly and shows balance through the stroke. Luis rotates well with the lower half, allowing the hands and hips to work properly together. Allowing the ball to travel deeper into the hitting zone and keeping the eyes down at contact will put Luis's posture in the correct position to allow for more drive through the baseball utilizing a palm-up-palm-down technique before the finish. With many years ahead to improve and showing present ability, Luis is an exciting young hitter that will benefit from his dedication.

12/13/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Madison (NYC), NJ Luis is a young R/R 2-way player as a 3B/OF. With the bat, this righty stands in well with an athletic setup and good balance. He has rhythm in his hands and gets back into a loaded position. He takes an aggressive hack and barrels the ball up with some pop. At 3B - Luis has active footwork and works low from the ground-up. He secures the ball, gathers well and has a quick release to throw. In the OF, Luis is aggressive to track down fly-balls hit to his right and left. He secures the ball with 2-hands and works in-line toward his target. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Relax/loosen grip
2. Swing path
3. Lower 1/2 drive
Infield
1. Play through ball
2. Lateral quickness
Outfield
1. Routes/Angles
2. Arm strength (long toss)

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
