Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Luke is a hard working RHP/3B prospect who showed well during the National World Series at Pirate City. On the mound, Luke gathers over the rubber, with a good rear hip coil, and separates his hands on time. Works with good tempo/rhythm and with good direction down the mound. A 3 pitch pitcher who dominated on the mound. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 83mph with arm side run. Mixed in a breaking ball with 11/5 shape and tight spin. Third pitch is a changeup he throws with FB arm speed and arm side run. In 6 innings of work, he struck out 12 batters and only allowed 2 hits. He also threw 64% of his pitches for strikes. In the field, he fields from a square fielding position and fields the ball out in front with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and his throws are accurate with carry through target. Showed good accurate arm on his DP feeds. Luke will benefit from improving his foot speed and agility at 3B. At the plate, this right-handed hitter hits from an athletic and open stance. He hits into a firm front side and makes hard/loud contact to the pull side with an exit velocity up to 86mph. In live game action, Luke reached base 3 times with 2 singles and a reach on error. Overall, Luke is a talented prospect who has the skillsets to contribute at the next level.

02/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Luke is a solid, strong RHP who graduate in 2022. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 73-77 mph. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Luke has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
