10/25/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Broussard, LA Luke's performance at the All-Ripken Games showcased his athleticism and potential, with both strengths and areas to refine in his game. Offense: Luke's athleticism at the plate is evident, but one key area for improvement is his hand load during his swing. Currently, Luke tends to drop his hands during the load phase, which can disrupt his swing path and lead to inconsistency in making solid contact. To address this, Luke would benefit from working off a tee to focus on maintaining a more consistent and direct path to the ball. Drills that emphasize keeping his hands in the correct position during the load phase can help him develop a smoother, more repeatable swing. By improving his bat path through the hitting zone, Luke can achieve more consistent contact and better plate coverage. Defense: Defensively, Luke displays strong fundamentals. He makes a point to catch the ball at its highest point, over his throwing shoulder, which is an efficient method that allows for clean transfers and solid mechanics when making throws. This attention to detail helps him control his throwing mechanics and remain accurate. However, there's an area for improvement in his fielding mechanics on ground balls. Luke can enhance his performance by working on generating more momentum through the ball, focusing on moving to and through the ball with proper footwork and body positioning. This will not only help him field grounders more cleanly but also set him up for more accurate and powerful throws. Development Focus: To continue developing, Luke should focus on: Offensive Mechanics: Work on eliminating the hand drop during the load phase and practice a consistent swing path using tee work and drills that emphasize bat control through the zone. Fielding Mechanics: Improve his momentum on ground balls by focusing on moving through the ball, which will enhance his ability to make quicker, more accurate plays. By addressing these areas, Luke has the potential to become a more well-rounded player, with improved offensive consistency and more fluid, efficient defensive play. His athleticism provides a strong foundation for growth in both areas.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
