08/01/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - West Lawn, PA - AM Luke is a thin, athletic, 2-way player that currently projects better behind the plate than in the OF. Luke has a soft glove, quiet actions, and he looks the ball into his glove. He has good flexion receiving, and drops to his knees quickly when blocking. Luke gets rid of the ball quickly and accurately to 2nd base, and has pop times as low as 2.19. Added arm strength and quicker actions when blocking will help Luke further improve behind the plate. In the OF, Luke reads the ball of the bat well and he makes plays. He gets in a good ready position, he fields on the glove side, and he gets rid of the ball quickly. Quicker footwork and added arm strength will help OF skills further improve. Offensively, Luke has a balanced approach and quiet head. He has a level swing and he works the middle of the field. Hitting can improve with added bat speed, a better weight transfer, and more use of his lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
