Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

12/16/2023 - National Showcase - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Luke is a LHP/1B who will graduate in 2028. In the infield he shows efficient footwork as he works to center the baseball. Made on-line throws from an over-the-top arm slot with an arm velocity up to 73mph. This left-handed pitcher works exclusively from the stretch. Has some deception to his delivery as he "hides" the ball. He works downhill and lands square to his target. He challenges hitters with a FB that sits 64-66mph, a 2/8 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup with some movement. At the plate he uses his long levers to create bat speed. Has smooth timing to his swing and gets his hands separated. Shows ability to keep barrel in the hitting zone as he made square contact to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 71mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Luke having a bright future on the baseball field.

07/06/2023 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Luke is a 2028 1B/LHP who showcased his skills during the BF Select Training and Competition in Cape Cod. At 1B he shows a good attitude and a willingness to be coached. He works to keep the ball in front of him and shows a good glove angle. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a recorded arm velocity up to 66mph. On the mound he works exclusively from the stretch. He has long levers with some deception to his delivery. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 61mph with arm side run, a 3/9 shaped breaking ball, and a developing changeup. In live game action, Luke worked an inning of 1-hit ball and punched out 1 batter. At the plate he hits from an athletic and square stance. He shows natural juice in his swing. In live game action, Luke reached base 2 times with a single, and 2 bases on balls. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

04/16/2023 - National Showcase - York, PA Luke is an athletic LHP/1B who will graduate in 2028. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 61-62 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 5 years to further develop, Luke has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
