01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Luke continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach, flashing gap to gap pop. On the mound, his righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball shows a range of 80-83 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches, working both sides of the plate.

At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He shows a smooth rhythm and hits from a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and line drives. On the mound, Luke keeps his eyes on target as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through on his release, finishing square to the plate. Luke shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 58-61mph with 11-5 break. Changeup ranges from 59-63mph. With four more years to develop, Luke has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
