02/13/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Luke is a SS/RHP out of Santa Cruz, CA in the class of 2023. Defensively, he showed efficient footwork with a good first step and the ability to cover ground. He works from the ground up and gets square to the baseball to make the routine play consistently. At the plate, he used an athletic set up with smooth timing to make consistent contact. He has a strong lower half which helps him drive the barrel through the zone with good bat speed to produce loud contact. On the hill, he had good mechanics by gathering over the rubber and separating on time to throw strikes. He worked a 3 pitch mix of fastball (73mph), breaking ball with 11/5 action and a change up with gradual sink. Luke is a prospect with a lot of potential who will continue to improve upon his game in this coming year.

01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Luke is a 2023 SS prospect who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-American Tournament. At SS, he starts in an athletic position and gets good 1st step reads off bat with efficient feet. He fields from a low fielding position and has a clean 2-hand transfer with good pocket awareness. Made on-line throws consistently from a high 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 81mph. At the plate, he hits from an upright and open stance. Starts with a small hand load, with a short glide step, and showed good barrel control to baseball. Keeps his weight between his knees and has a fast barrel through the hitting zone. Hit balls consistently into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph. During the games, he reached base 4 times with a triple, 2 singles and a base on balls. Luke is a solid player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field with continued development.

09/26/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Union City, CA Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities are now outstanding with excellent power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. At SS, he creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. He throws from multiple arm angles with accuracy on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Luke is a 2B prospect who showcased his skills during the Opening Day Classic. At the plate, this LHH sets up with comfortable hands and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a small load and works to barrel up the baseball, producing solid contact. Driving his lower half more can help Luke produce more pop off the barrel. In the field, Luke makes the routine plays and throws with a loose arm, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Luke can field ground balls more efficiently by presenting his glove to the ball sooner. Overall, Luke is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/06/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now solid through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a sac fly. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Fastball shows good arms side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
