12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Academic All-American showcase. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 4 with 2 BB. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-72 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Luke is an athletic 1B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Opening Day Classic. In the field, Luke shows efficient footwork and makes the routine plays. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance with his hands held low. He gets into a small load and works to barrel up the baseball, using the entire field well. On the mound, Luke gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and keeps his pitches around the zone. Luke shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph. Breaking ball sits from 55-57mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 60-64mph. Overall, Luke is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
