09/10/2017 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Luke is a hardworking C/OF prospect who has a versatile skill set. As a left-handed hitter, Luke has a square, tall setup with his weight on his toes. He takes a load with a short, square stride. Luke maintains a quiet head and shows an aggressive approach. He partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. He is a contact type hitter who has the ability to use the whole field. Behind the plate, Luke has an effective setup with a good base. He handles pitches down in the zone well. Luke has a clean exchange leading into a restricted arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He is developing arm strength and improving his throws down to 2B. In the outfield, Luke plays with an aggressive approach and attacks the baseball. He takes effective routes and makes the routine plays. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot and is working to play through the baseball. Overall, Luke is a coachable prospect who can advance his skills with development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
