Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Luke is a gifted C/RHP in the 2024 class. Behind the plate, he has a quiet and relaxed feel. Keeps his eyes behind the baseball and working to catch the ball more out in front will allow him to maintain the strike zone. Controls the run game well (2.08 pop) and is consistently on the bag. On the mound, he works with great tempo and his front side stays closed to create excellent direction. His Fb topped at 80 and sat 76-8 with feel for the zone. His CB shaped 11-5 and by staying on top, he can create more tilt. At the plate, he demonstrates a strong barrel. He has an athletic/relaxed feel and creates a simple and repeatable load. Stays inside his feet for great balance and can drive the baseball to the gaps. Overall, Luke is a plus defender and can help a college program with his bat and ability on the mound.

08/04/2022 - Baseball Factory Summer World Series at the NY Mets Spring Training Complex Luke is a C who will graduate in 2024. Good frame, with broad shoulders, athletic build with strength present and room to add more strength. Behind the dish, easy sit who showed good agility and quiet actions. Gains ground with good direction towards second base. Creates good blocking angles and displayed a soft chest as he deaden balls. Showed a quick arm with accurate/online throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity of 82 mph and a best pop time of 2.13 seconds. A right-handed hitter, hits from an even stance. Uses lower half with good balance through contact and a fast bat. Flat bat path who made square contact and hit balls into both gaps. Reached base 3 times with a recorded bat exit velocity of 75 mph during live game action. With 2 more years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

07/17/2022 - Baseball Factory Los Angeles All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the All-Star Classic. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.06 with accuracy / carry (86 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and has great knowledge of the game. He works hard on the field with a lot of energy.

12/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Chandler (Phoenix), AZ Luke is a young 2-way player who catches and plays second base. Behind the plate, Luke shows quick feet, a low/athletic set up, and a soft/presentable glove. He has a clean/direct transfer, centers the ball well, and his exchange is quick and clean. Luke throws with momentum, consistency, and accuracy to his target, with pop times as low as 2.08 seconds. Continuing to keep his eyes low when blocking, and added arm strength, will only help defensive skills behind the plate approve. At second base, Luke has fluid/active footwork, a low fielding position, and a quick release with carry and accuracy across a diamond. Offensively, Luke has an open stance, good balance, and he loads well toward the pitcher. He is short to the ball, he can spray to all fields, and he hits from a firm front side. Added extension after contact, and less head movement with better rhythm, will only help offensive numbers improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
