12/19/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Luke is a two position player who showed well on the mound at Pirate City. At 1B, he does a good job of making the routine play and keeping the ball in front. His actions can loosen up and because he plays a bit high, he tends to field the ball too deep. Offensively, he is on balance and has good rhythm in his hands. His lower half rotates effectively as well. He gets barred out early in the swing which lengthens his path and causes him to be slightly uphill. The tall right-hander pitched at 76 with some arm side run on the fastball. Secondary pitches are average, but he does a good job of locating all three. He attacked hitters in his outing and worked with great tempo. He separates on time, but needs to work on extension and direction with the front side. Hips drift which causes him to fall off on his finish. Staying in line will improve his velocity as well as the action of his breaking ball and change up. He has a good idea on the mound and should continue to improve as he grows as an athlete overall.
