12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic John is a scrappy SS/RHP in the 2029 class. Plays bigger that his 4ft 8/75 size and is never intimidated on the field. Plays with great energy and has all the intangibles of a great player. In the field, he demonstrates and athletic feel and plays on the balls of his feet. Gains a positive 1st step and plays under the baseball. His hands are soft and he can create clean redirection actions. Arm slot is a high 3 qtr. and his ball has life. On the mound he was impressive in two innings of work. He filled up the zone (13K on 19 total pitches) and created soft contact. His delivery is repeatable and his arm action is clean. Stays closed on his front side and is aggressive early in the count. His FB sat 47-9 and his CB shaped 9-3. At the plate, he trusts his hands and has excellent bat to ball skills. He is on-time to hit while using a short inside swing. Registered 3 quality at bats with a 1 hit and 2 BB’s. Overall, John is a special talent and coachable player. Scouts are eager to witness his development at future BF events.

10/08/2023 - National Showcase - Springdale, AR John is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2029. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At SS, he shows quick/fluid footwork and plays the game the right way. He works from right to left as he fields from an athletic and low fielding position with good glove actions and soft hands out front. Shows a quick release as he made accurate throws to first base from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 57mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and square stance. A simple setup to start and gets his hands separated. Keeps bat flat in the zone for a long time and uses the whole field. During his round of BP, he hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 53mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development before he gets in high school, we foresee John having a bright future on the baseball field at the high school level and beyond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
