12/27/2020 - All-In Membership - Pittsburgh, PA Maddox is a lean, athletic C/2B who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to get body down sooner and cover all holes. Pop times showed in the 2.30 range with accuracy on is throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and present well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases his foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 5 years to further develop, Maddox has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
