01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Malcolm is a talented RHH catcher who continues to impress. Offensively, this righty remains balanced with active hands to load. Swing is quick as he engages his strong lower 1/2, generating torque and resulting in pop off of the barrel. He has good zone awareness and doesn't swing at much that he can't drive (drawing 3 walks in 6 AB's). Behind the dish, he sits in well presenting a low/soft target and receiving with a firm wrist with good pocket awareness. Transfer from glove to throwing hand is quick as he puts throws on the bag to 2B - pop times remaining in the low 2's. Malcolm can make things happen in a variety of ways and has the skill-set that will play at the next level.

07/08/2020 - All-In Membership - Trenton, NJ Malcolm is a very talented / athletic (6'2"/200) 2-way prospect (C/3B) who can make things happen in a variety of ways. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions and good sway. He tracks pitches into a soft mitt and frames well. Transfer/exchange is quick/clean with accurate throws down to 2B - pop times at 2.05. At 3B, he shows active prep footwork moving well on the balls of his feet. He works fluidly into an athletic fielding position, gathers well and makes strong throws with zip across the diamond (86 mph). Backhand play is smooth as he he quick glove to hand. As a hitter, this righty displays an open stance with rhythm to load. He stays connected and whips the barrel on a short/direct path with plus bat speed. He squares the ball up and creates consistent/hard contact. Malcolm has the tools that will translate well into the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
