01/25/2015 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Malcolm is an athletic RHP/OF that will graduate in 2016 with a promising further on the diamond. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level but has an upside on the mound. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.86 60 time. In the OF, defensive grades are well above average, displaying smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and reads balls well off the bat as he works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Hands are soft / clean as he utilizes two hands well through the fielding process and shows big play potential in the OF. Throws are accurate with life and carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying outstanding arm strength. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 80-84 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to vary velocity as it is too close to fastball. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and develops better off speed stuff. Dylan has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
