03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Marcello continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At 2B, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved, now showing as outstanding tools through an open setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Marcello has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

02/22/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 14-18) Marcello showed good improvement since we saw him last. At the plate he shows a quiet, balanced approach. He has a line drive approach with with good extension and an efficient lower half. He will continue to improve by working on staying connected. On the mound, he has good poise and a confident set up. He has clean arm action with an on-time seperation. He has a good, controlled stride while staying in line towards the plate. Arrigo can continue to be more effective on the mound with increased extension on his arm action and also adding arm strength through a long toss program.

12/20/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Marcello continues to shine on the diamond. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. He stands over the rubber well, is around the plate with all of his pitches. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph with arm side run and is sneaky fast. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 2B, his feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. At the event, he was 3 for 7. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/06/2019 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Marcello is a RHP/2B prospect who will graduate in 2021. On the mound, Marcello shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 64-65mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 67-69mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Marcello improve as a pitcher. In the field, Marcello shows efficient footwork and flashes good range to his glove side. He gets into an athletic position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Marcello can improve defensively by following his throws more. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and takes a level swing, leading to solid line drives. Getting into his load sooner can help Marcello improve as a hitter. Overall, Marcello is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
