01/25/2015 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Marcelo is a RHP who has a strong lower 1/2 (5'10"/180). On the mound, he has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot and loose/clean arm action. He keeps his eyes on the target, maintains level shoulders and works through a compact delivery. FB ranges from 77-78 mph while showing late run which will get in on the RHH. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with gradual action. Changeup has late run & sink showing to be a solid out pitch. He finishes complete out over his front side with good extension. At the plate, Marcelo shows quiet actions with a balanced approach. Quick hands whip the barrel on a level path to and through the zone. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and will pull it with pop. Engaging and utilizing his lower 1/2 more will help to increase power at the plate. Marcelo will throw strikes and give his team a chance to win every time he takes the mound.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
