Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

08/09/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Marco is a thin, projectable, RHP who attacks hitters with a consistent fastball in the 84 - 86 MPH range. He works in quick tempo, works both sides of the plate, and he pitches to contact. Marco has good off-speed pitches and is quick to home plate from the stretch. Improved command and added arm strength will only help Marco on the mound.

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Cardone improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.12 runner. On the mound, he continues to show plus abilities. Delivery and control grades have improved as his fastball showed a range of 84-87 mph with arm side run and sink. His breaking ball displays sharp 11/5 break with tight spin but needs to work on a more consistent release point. He challenges hitters, attacking the zone and changing speeds well.

10/21/2009 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2009 Marco continues to show as a stud and prospect on the mound. He displays a live, strong arm with athletic actions through his delivery as he works on a fast tempo. Command and control have improved as he pounds the low zone with all his pitches. Fastball showed a range of 84-89 mph with quality off speed pitches as he changes speeds well with a solid mound presence.

10/11/2009 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Marco is a young RHP with an upside and a ton of potential on the mound. Body is lean and athletic showing some projection as he continues to physically mature. Delivery is solid displaying sound mechanics that allows his quick, arm action to work free and loose away from his body. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velocity of 90 mph on the mound. Fastball shows a range of 83-90 mph with a means of 87 mph, displaying some arm side run. Slider is best off speed pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with tight spin and late breaking action. Breaking ball also shows 11/5 shape with tight spin but is inconsistent with pitch. Changeup shows decent feel for with sinking action. He needs to work on throwing more strikes with all his pitches, working on a more consistent release point. With 2 years to further develop, Marco has the makings to be a special type arm on the mound and will get a ton of looks from the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
