02/08/2009 - College PREP - Houston, TX Marco is a 3B with a solid, strong looking boy that shows projection as it continues to physically mature. Foot speed is near above and would benefit from a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. He utilizes his athletic feet well in coming to get and playing through a low approach. Lateral movement is a plus, displaying range. Defensive abilities are near above average with hands and feet working well together, displaying easy actions. Arm strength is near above average displaying carry and accuracy across the diamond. He needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength. At the plate, Hernandez has near above average abilities with solid average power. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball, generating bat speed. He shows good rhythm and tempo in his approach with his lower half working well. He will hit at the next level. Marco has potential and will catch the eyes of the college coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
