06/06/2023 - National Showcase - Midland, TX Marcos is a C who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. At C he showed quick feet and works with good direction to first base. Has an easy sit and presents a low target. Good lateral movement, with good blocking angles, and centers the baseball. Works thumb under baseball, with a quick exchange, and throws from an over-the-top release point. Made accurate throws to second base with an arm velocity up to 80mph and a best pop time of 2.08 seconds. A right-handed hitter he hits from an athletic and square stance. Has good rhythm to his swing and gets his hands separated. Has a fast barrel through the hitting zone with a high finish. During his round of BP, he hit line drives to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. With another year of development, we see Marcos having opportunities to play at the next level.

03/26/2023 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Marcos is a solid catcher in the 2024 class. Behind the plate, his feet work well and shows an athletic set-up. Stays square to the baseball and his hands are soft. He rakes the baseball in front of his eyes for a clean and high exchange. Release is quick from an over-the-top slot for strong feeds to the bag (2.10 pop). Blocks well and is quick to react. At the plate, he shows solid rhythm from a squared set-up. Balance is clean and allows his backside to get through. Path is direct and shows line drive production. Overall, Marcos shows the ability to become a next level player and scouts are eager to witness his development at future events.

06/20/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (HS) Marcos is a 2024 catcher out of Big Spring, TX who played hard and with good energy during his time in Omaha. Defensively, Marcos sits in athletically, he holds a low target, and he presents his glove well. He has firm hands, blocks and receives well, and throws with accuracy, life, and carry through to 2nd base. Pop times were lowered to 2.14 seconds. At the plate, Marcos has an open stance, an activated load, and he swings on plane. He has fast bat speed, a level swing, and he rotates his core through. Marcos is a tough, young player with a bright future.

12/04/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Marcos is a C prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame lean build with strength present and room to add throughout. At C, he works to center the baseball, with efficient feet, and tracks well to mitt. Works to get around baseball as he gains ground to second base. Has an athletic secondary stance as he works his thumb under baseball keeping balls in the strike zone. A quick/clean exchange into an over-the-top release point and arm velocity up to 81mph and a best pop time of 2.25 seconds. Tries to create good blocking angles and showed ability to deaden ball. Marcos has a good idea behind the dish with a high upside. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an athletic and tall stance. Has smooth timing, with center balance at contact, and ability to hit the ball out front. Showed a fast barrel through hitting zone with good extension out front. He squared up baseballs to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 77mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see Marcos having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
