05/16/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Houston, TX Marcus is a 1B/RHP who will graduate in 2022. Has a tall frame, high waist, with strength present and plenty of room to develop more strength. At 1B, Marcus starts with a good pre-pitch routine and active feet to create fielding angles. He fields from the ground up, with a low funnel, and ability to pick out hops. Attacks balls downhill with good body control. Accurate/on-line throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with good carry, and recorded an arm velocity of 88mph. On the mound, right-handed pitcher works from the stretch exclusively. Long levers and projectible frame, with a fast arm, and ability to work on different planes. Showed plus command on his FB that sat 82-85mph with some tailing action. Flashed an 11/5 CB with good depth and a CH that he throws with FB arm speed with some movement in the zone. FB was his best pitch during his bullpen session. Left-handed hitter who hits from an upright and even stance. Showed some late barrel whip with good extension through zone. Hard hit balls to the pull side, with a bat exit velocity of 93mph, during his round of BP. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having opportunities to play at the next level.

01/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Marcus is a strong RHP/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Marcus shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 84mph. Breaking ball sits from 67-68mph with 11-5 break. Splitter sits from 77-79mph. At the plate, this LHH shows an advanced approach through an athletic setup. He is smooth to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a level swing with explosive bat speed, leading to loud contact and great pull side power (91mph exit velo). In the field, Marcus is agile moving to the ball and makes the routine plays. He throws from a 3/4 angle and makes accurate throws to his target. Overall, Marcus is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

09/20/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Marcus continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He only showed on the mound at the event but has improved his arm strength as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Delivery is sound and repeatable, allowing his arm action to work loose and easy to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger pitch with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Offensively, hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (92 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

10/20/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Conroe (Houston), TX Marcus improved radar velocity to 80 MPH, exit velocity to 84 MPH, and showed a spike in hitting numbers during his last workout in Houston. At 3B, Marcus has good aggressiveness to the ball, he presents well, and covers ground. He makes plays consistently, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short arm action across the diamond. On the mound, Marcus has good balance over the rubber, he separates his hands on time, and works on a downhill plane. He works quickly, he has a controlled landing toward home, and he finishes in a complete position. Offensively, Marcus has a tall/open stance, a short/square stride, and he stands in well balanced. He has fast bat speed, makes hard contact, and he uses his lower body.

10/21/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Conroe (Houston), TX Marcus is a lanky and athletic 2022 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Marcus presents a low/early glove, a quick first step, and creates angles to the ball. He plays through his backhand and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Marcus starts in a tall and closed stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position, has separation in his load, and drives the ball to all fields. On the bump, Marcus gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. His fastball tops out at 69 mph, he has a 10-6 break on his curveball, and his changeup works down. Marcus will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Marcus is a hardworking RHP/3B prospect who has a long, projectable build. On the mound, Marcus works downhill with good body control. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and effectively uses his front side. Marcus lands open to home plate with a controlled landing. He finishes with an upright chest. Marcus features a 10-2 o'clock breaking curveball and developing changeup. Offensively, Marcus has an athletic setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and square stride as his lower half leads his swing. Marcus has an on-plane swing path and has good back side. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Marcus can also drive the ball to each gap with power. In the field, Marcus works hard and makes the routine plays. He fields the ball in a high position with a deep hands. He has a long exchange and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Marcus shows strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Marcus is a coachable prospect who has good potential to advance his game.

01/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Marcus is a long, lean, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the mound, Marcus stands over the rubber well, he separates on time, and gets good extension on his pitches. He lands with good direction, rotates through to his target, and competes in the zone. At 3B, Marcus has good pre-pitch actions, he makes the routine plays, and throws with a long arm action with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Marcus has a square set-up, a short stride, and he loads properly. He has a good bat angle, and accurate barrel, and he makes hard contact. Marcus can get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
