08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Pisano showed as a SS/C at the event. At SS, his feet are active and he displays great hands that are presented well out front. He needs to be more aggressive in attacking ground balls and playing through well with his body. Behind the plate, pop times showed a range of 2.19-2.40 with a means of 2.20. Receiving / blocking skills are playable, showing as quality tools that will play well at the next level as he continues to improve. At the plate, Marcus shows a balanced approach with rhythm. His swing path is level as he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting / power grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep his hands inside the ball and use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he works hard and is eager to learn.

05/06/2012 - College PREP - Lakewood (Denver), CO Marcus is a SS who will graduate in 2014. Footwork is quick; hands are firm with a quick exchange. Arm action is clean and accurate on throws and feeds. His fielding position is athletic but needs to work on fielding the ball out in front of his body to improve defensive grades. At the plate, Marcus shows good rhythm and makes consistent contact. Has a quick hand path but can continue to focus on staying inside the baseball to improve hitting grades. Power numbers will increase by keeping his hands back and working on more drive from his lower half. With 2 years of further development, Marcus will continue to see improvement on his overall baseball skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
