11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City Mark is strong, athletic catcher that will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 6.91 60 time. Feet are active working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times were in the 2.33-2.48 range as he needs to work on gaining ground and build more arm strength to continue to lower times. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools that will play well at the next level as he continues to improve. At the plate, Mika shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through level swing path to and through the ball. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, plays hard, and has a solid feel for the game. With 2 years to further develop, Mark has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.
