09/26/2010 - College PREP - McKees Rocks, PA Mark is an athletic, 2nd baseman that hits from the left side. Defensively, Mark plays in a low position, has a glove that works, and he moves well laterally. He gives solid double play feeds, he makes plays, and he throws with good accuracy to his target. Mark can get better defensively if he can have better pre-pitch actions, and field the ball further out in front of his body. Offensively, Mark has average balance, bat speed, and good barrel accuracy. He has a level swing, he puts the ball in play, and he gets his backside through the zone well. If Mark can loosen his actions, improve his load, and not pull off the baseball, offensive grades can further improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
