Official Scouting Report

03/03/2024 - National Showcase - Glendale (Phoenix), AZ Mark continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth, fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down and works to get behind ball, playing through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Mark has an upside with time and room to progress his game.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Mark is a 2027 OF who showcased his talents at the BF Recruiting Classic. In the outfield, he starts from an athletic position, has quick feet, and is agile. He makes good reads and works behind the ball. Mark did a great job of getting rid of the ball quick and had a top arm velo of 83. At the plate, Mark showcased his ability to hit from both side of the plate. From the right side he has an athletic stance, a high hand slot, and an activated load. He has an explosive lower ½ and fast bat speed. He showcased some pop gap to gap during batting practice with an exit velocity of 83 mph. From the left side, he had more of a relaxed stance and a comfortable hand slot. He had a simple load and controlled stride. He did a great job of spraying the ball all around the field. During the games, he showed great plate awareness picking up several walks. With several years to grow and develop, we believe that Mark will continue to become a great player on the field.

06/28/2023 - National Showcase - Albuquerque, NM Mark is an OF prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with strength present and room to add throughout. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.9 seconds. In the OF good first step reads enables him to cover ground in all directions and make routine plays. Showed good lateral range as he works behind/through the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Made accurate and on-line throws into infield from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 82mph. At the plate he hits from an athletic and square stance. He starts with a square glide step and gets knob to C. Gets his back hip through the baseball and has a fast barrel through the hitting zone. A direct barrel path enables him to square baseballs to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee the 2-way prospect having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
