12/06/2009 - College PREP - Cedar Hill, TX Mark is an average sized, Jr OF with some skills. Defensively, Mark has a quick 1st step and he tracks the baseball well. He takes appropriate angles to the ball and uses 2 hands when catching fly balls. As a Jr, he is already above the average Varsity mark with his arm and fielding abilities. Over the next couple seasons, it will be important for Mark to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Mark has good balance, bat speed, and an aggressive swing. He has a level swing path, good barrel accuracy, and makes solid contact. If Mark can loosen up his arms and get extension through the baseball, we could see a rise in his hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
