10/25/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Broussard, LA Mason, a corner infielder and right-handed pitcher, played a key role in helping Team Guardians compete during the All-Ripken games in Louisiana. On the mound, Mason demonstrated a solid two-pitch mix, featuring a fastball and breaking ball, both of which he commanded well. His delivery was marked by good balance and a full finish, allowing him to effectively work to the plate. Offensively, Mason displayed strong bat speed and a low finish through the hitting zone, allowing him to make consistent contact. His approach to the game also stood out, as he demonstrated solid awareness and good instincts both at the plate and in the field. Defensively, Mason showed a strong glove at first base, with the ability to pick the baseball with soft hands and present a good target for his teammates. His all-around game, including pitching, offense, and defense, highlights his versatility and makes him a valuable asset to his team. As he continues to refine his skills, Mason is a prospect to keep an eye on moving forward.

06/15/2024 - BF Evaluation Experience at Pigeon Forge Mason is a solid 3B who is a prospect on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ground balls up but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 8 years to further develop, Mason has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
