Official Scouting Report

06/19/2023 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Sean is an athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.38 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, this righty has a 2-pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. FB shows a range of 72-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Mason has potential with time and room to progress his game.

11/20/2022 - All-In Membership - Bronx, NY Mason is a young, athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Mason has good balance, on-time hand separation, and he lands with good direction toward home plate. He keeps his eyes on target, uses his legs well, and rotates through toward his target. Mound effectiveness can improve with more extension, a shorter stride, and with added arm strength. In the OF, Mason has active footwork, good range, and he catches the ball at its highest point. He gets good reads, makes plays, and throws with momentum and a short arm action to his cut off man. If Mason can use 2 hands and field further out in front of his body, abilities in the OF can get better. Offensively, Mason can switch hit and is equally as good from both sides. From the right, Mason has quick hands, a good swing path, and he makes consistent contact. From the left, Mason stands in athletically, he can hit to all fields, and swings on plane. Added rhythm and letting the ball travel from both sides will help hitting numbers spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
