06/02/2024 - National Showcase - Thousand Oaks, CA Mason continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness (6.80 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mason has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

07/20/2022 - Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Mason is an OF/RHP who graduated in 2024. Medium frame lean build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the OF, good reads off bat and efficient footwork enables him to take good routes to balls. Square fielding position as he fields ball out front with ability to make routine plays. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity of 80 mph into infield. On the mound, this right-handed pitcher works smart and with good tempo. Good direction towards plate and ability to throw strikes. Attacks hitters with a FB that was up to 68mph, a breaking ball 11/5 shape, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. A right-handed hitter, starts with an athletic and even stance. Quiet head/eyes enable him to track pitches well. Showed good awareness of the strike zone. Hit 6 singles in live game action. Simple and balanced swing with ability to hit balls to all fields with a recorded bat exit velocity of 76 mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

06/13/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Luis Obispo, CA Mason is a wiry OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is and presents well out front. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.21 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with online carry (81 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting / power potential through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. FB ranges from 68-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Mason has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
