07/25/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Elizabethtown, KY Mason is a skilled 1B/LHP with solid potential on the diamond. At first base, he exhibits smooth and fluid actions, with proper footwork around the bag and strong receiving skills. His hands are clean and present well out front, and he moves well laterally, with his range improving as he enhances his foot quickness. At the plate, Mason continues to impress with an open setup. His quick hands work through a level swing path, allowing him to stay inside the ball and use all fields effectively, generating leverage in his swing. On the mound, Mason’s fastball ranges from 57-59 mph with arm-side run, and his breaking ball features a big sweeping break. He demonstrates solid control, consistently attacking hitters and throwing strikes with all his pitches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
