11/08/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Manalapan, NJ Mason is a lean athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.23 60 time. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry (85 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 2 years to further develop, Mason has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
