08/29/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Baltimore, MD Mason is a versatile catcher and first baseman who represented Team Patriots at the All-Ripken games in Aberdeen. Behind the plate, he demonstrated soft hands and worked well through the baseball. As he continues to develop, focusing on keeping his thumb under the ball will enhance his receiving mechanics and help him steal strikes for his pitching staff. At the plate, Mason consistently put the ball in play during his appearances, showcasing his ability to connect effectively. To further enhance his offensive game, adopting a more aggressive approach with his lower and upper body mechanics should help him generate more bat speed. Additionally, continuously working on his hand-eye coordination will aid him in making more consistent contact.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
